Ewen's Room Walk & Talk

Here at Ewen’s Room we know how good it is for our mental health to get outside in the winter months- and we know that setting a goal can give us the extra incentive we need to get out there! So this January we encouraged all who can to get out and about for a good cause; pledge your miles and help us to reach our target- to collectively walk the coast of Scotland in 2024 and raise funds to continue to improve mental wellbeing in Lochaber!

Reflecting on a Month of Walks: A Huge Thank You!

Mile Total: 803 and still counting!

As we wrap up our January Walk and Talk challenge, we’re feeling incredibly grateful for all the support we’ve received and the impact it’s had on our community. From the number of miles walked to the funds raised, and most importantly, the positive boost to our mental health and wellbeing – it’s been a month to remember!

We’ve loved seeing everyone get involved, and it’s clear that walking has made a real difference in how we’re all feeling. The good news? We’re definitely carrying these walks into the months ahead through our Whatever the Weather walks – it’s become a great habit that we’re not ready to quit!

We’ve enjoyed walks in the snow, hikes up mountains, short potters in villages, wanders along the beach, walking down to allotments, walking furry friends and lots more!

A massive thank you goes out to all the individuals, groups, and children who’ve helped fundraise for us. Your efforts are truly inspiring, and we can’t wait to put this money to work, improving mental health and wellbeing right here in Lochaber.

A special big thank you to Strontian and Mallaig Cubs, Beavers and Scouts and their leaders, young people in Kinlochleven, and a huge shout out to Mallaig Scout Keir for raising the most funds in Lochaber! We are so proud and extremely grateful to everyone who took part.

We’d also like to thank the West Highland gift shop, Co Op, Marine Bar (hotel), Harbour Shop, Mallaig Toy Shop, Community Hub, the Police station and The Raven, Cat and Witches hat shop for taking part in our Highland Cow Hunt!

Be sure to check out some of the wonderful photos from walks across the region, including the fun Highland Cow Hunt celebration in Mallaig, and some photos from the schools and groups that took part! Thank you again, and here’s to more walks ahead!
