Counselling
We offer free counselling through schools and in the community. To request an appointment, please email us on appointments@ewensroom.com.
School Counselling
Ewen’s Room is an approved supplier under the Highland Council’s Counselling Framework. We provide free one-to-one counselling for all pupils from P6 to S6 at Ardnamurchan High School and Mallaig High School. Our qualified counsellor for young people is Margot MacDonald, who is there to offer support and a safe space to talk things through.
You can reach out to us without going through a teacher or a parent – we keep all referrals strictly confidential. If you are a student at Ardnamurchan High School and Mallaig High School we usually use school rooms for Counselling sessions, but we can meet with you elsewhere or even online if that is what you prefer.
If you would like to find out more about this service, please get in touch with your guidance counsellor, contact Margot directly at margot.macdonald@partners-highlandschools.net, or contact us at info@ewensroom.com.
Adult Counselling
Margot MacDonald
If you’re not in either Ardnamurchan High School or Mallaig High School but still under the age of 30 and in Lochaber, we may be able to offer you counselling outside of school. Sessions are usually delivered online, and for as long as you need them. You can contact Margot directly at margot.macdonald@partners-highlandschools.net, or contact us at appointments@ewensroom.com to arrange an appointment.
Catherine Murray
Catherine is an Integrative Student Counsellor, offering techniques related to Cognitive and Behavioural Therapy and incorporate Psychodynamic knowledge. Her core values lie within the Person-Centred approach. This means that she will be offering you a safe, non-judgemental space to explore what is going on for you. It also means that she will not be giving you solutions, advice or telling you what to do. Instead, she will recognise that you know your situation better than she does, and that within you is the ability to uncover the answers that feel right for you. Her job is to help you to identify, reflect and overcome any barriers, problems or issues you may be experiencing, so that those answers can be heard.
Catherine is registered with the BACP, receives supervision and is in all aspects a regular counsellor. She’s able to offer counselling for many different reasons: whether that be for those struggling with anxiety, low mood, bereavement, stress or life transitions. Or for people who just need a space to be heard, to be supported and to feel less alone within the difficulties they may be facing. To build a relationship of trust and support, and to be alongside you whilst we embark on the therapeutic journey together.
To set up an appointment with Catherine, please email appointments@ewensroom.com.
